四人の若者(男二人、女二人)が、入って出てきた者はいないという噂の館に潜入。扉には鍵はかかっておらず、簡単に侵入できた。しかし、四人が入ったとたん、館の扉はひとりでに閉まり、鍵までかかってしまう。館に閉じ込められた四人は不安を感じつつも館の中を手分けして探索することにした。ところが、無人と思われたその館には、とんでもない怪物が潜んでいたのだ。主人公ラルフは、時として現れる怪物から逃げながら鍵などのアイテムを集め、ちりぢりになった仲間を探す。怪物の犠牲になる一人の仲間、怪しい老人の出現、そしてその老人が語る怪物の正体と彼自身との関係。やがて追いつめられたラルフたちと怪物との決戦の末に意外な結末が待っていた。
